Congrats to our U15 Boys White

AYSA Select Boys U15 White won the 2012 Fall Triumph Cup U15 Tournament this weekend, winning the finals on penalty kicks after scoring the tying goal in the waning minutes of the game.  The boys competed well as a team throughout the tournament (Nov. 17-18), in spite of having a very short bench. The tournament bracket had two divisions with three teams each.  AYSA U15 White started the tournament vs. Triumph 2016 Green at 8:00 a.m. on a cold and breezy Saturday morning.  After conceding an early goal just minutes into the game, AYSA warmed up and quickly tied the score.  AYSA played strong for the balance of the game, dominated possession, and the game concluded with a 5-1 score in favor of AYSA. The next game was at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, still chilly but with less wind.  AYSA faced DDYSC/SDY 98 Alliance and put forth a commanding performance under the lights.  AYSA scored early during the game, and got scoring from several players.  The AYSA boys were strong on defense, and played the vast majority of the game on the DDY side of the pitch.  They were rewarded with a 5-0 win, and were guaranteed a top seed in Sunday morning’s semi-final match. AYSA fell behind 0-1 early on Sunday morning, playing a spirited and physical AFUSA B Bronze squad.  AYSA recovered and tied the game prior to the half. Going into the second half of a game AFUSA converted on a penalty kick to retake the lead 1-2.  AYSA again fought their way back into the game converting their own PK with about ten minutes left in regulation.  AYSA kept up the heat, and scored a final goal to bring the score to 3-2.  GFC 98 Classic IV won their semi-final, setting up a 4:00 final game. GFC provided AYSA its stiffest competition of the tournament, scoring early during the first half and playing strong team soccer.  AYSA went into halftime down 0-1, but had increased the pressure on GFC with several strong runs that went unconverted.  Within minutes of the second half coming to a close, AYSA was awarded a direct kick after a foul, and after the ball caromed around the box an AYSA player converted the tying goal with a header.  The game ended tied, and the game went to PKs.  With strong goalkeeping and clutch shooting, AYSA was able to prevail 3-2 on PKs winning the tournament against a strong GFC squad.  Congratulations to the boys on a well-earned tournament victory
